THE BIRTH OF ISAAC
VERSE: GENESIS 18 & 21

One of the angels announces that Sarah will have a son, prompting her to laugh in disbelief, overhearing the conversation from the tent entrance. Her laughter stems from her long-held desire for a child, which seemed impossible due to her advanced age. The angel’s response, “Is there anything too wonderful for the Lord?” emphasizes God’s power and faithfulness.
Despite their initial skepticism, God fulfills His promise, and Sarah conceives and gives birth to a son, named Isaac, meaning “laughter.” Sarah’s joy is palpable as she exclaims, “God has brought laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me. Who would have ever said that we would have children? Yet I have given birth to a son in my old age.”
